Some guy tweets some stuff years ago and loses his job on a TV game show. Some actor makes a statement years ago and has to grovel for forgiveness. No matter what an individual did since his or her younger years, they are branded for what they did in their history. No credit is given for changed behavior and attitudes. Who chooses who gets a pass? Try this quote on for size:

"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races, [applause]—that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. "

This was spoken publicly and on record by a man considered to be an American hero. Why is he not cancelled from the history books? Why is his picture on currency? Why are schools named after him? Why is he worshipped for his statesmanship?

Ah, the irony of hypocrisy. Yes, there is humor in this also. The absurdity of hypocritical judgement based on one's biases.
